Simple English Wikiquote has quotes in English, and the same quotes translated into Simple English or explained in Simple English or both so that people can understand them. (If the original quote used only simple words, then no translation is needed.)

This is official policy because this is what we said the purpose of this project is when there was a discussion to keep or close the project.

At the beginning of each page is a short introduction talking about the person. It can be about a paragraph or two. It should not be a whole article.
