Wikiquote:Sock puppetry
A Wikiquote sock puppet is another account belonging to a user, used for causing trouble, vandalism or as a way to get around Wikiquote's policies. Sock puppet accounts are different from alternative accounts, sometimes used for security by administrators or trusted users, if they are using a public computer. Sock puppets used for abuse–for example, for misleading others; altering consensus; making good edits on the main account and bad edits with the other account–may be blocked from editing. In serious cases, a steward may run a checkuser on the account, which may result in the main account and the sock puppets being blocked.
