Wikiquote:Talk page guidelines
(Redirected from Wikiquote:Talk page)
The purpose of a Wikiquote talk page is to provide space for users to talk about changes to its article or project page. Article talk pages should not be used by users to talk about their opinions of the subject of the article.
What you should do on talk pages
- Sign your posts: To sign a post, type four tildes (~~~~), and they will appear as your username and the time and date when you save the page, like this: Example 13:21, 9 May 2008 (UTC). Remember that your username or IP address is saved in the page history even if you don't sign.
- Assume good faith: Be patient and assume that people are trying to help.
- Start new topics at the bottom of the page: If you write a message at the top of the page, other people might not see it.
What you should not do on talk pages
- Do not use too much markup: Please do not use Italic text, Bolded text or CAPITAL LETTERS too often. It is considered to be shouting.
- No personal attacks: Do not make personal attacks to anyone on Wikiquote. If you do, you may be blocked from changing Wikiquote.
- Do not change others' comments: Never change or strike what other people write unless if you have their permission.
- Do not impersonate other people: Do not pretend that you are someone else.
When you can change others' comments
- Unsigned comments: If someone forgets to sign a comment, you may add {{subst:unsigned|USER NAME OR IP|DATE AND TIME}}. This shows up as: —This unsigned comment was added by USER NAME OR IP (talk • changes) DATE AND TIME.
- With their permission: If someone gives you permission to change something that they wrote.
- Removing personal details: If someone reveals someone else's personal details, you may remove that comment.
- Removing personal attacks: you may remove personal attacks from talk pages.
- Fixing links: If a link does not go to the page that it should when you click on it, you may change it.
