Rename

I've changed your name, as you asked. I hope you enjoy your new name! Coppertwig 23:31, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Now to make a new sig..... StaticRic Review ME! My mess.My colorful Main Pages 23:32, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
StaticChristian? Is that your name, or are you a Christian? I like the rename, by the way. God bless, American Eagle (talk) 23:34, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm a Christian. StaticRic Review ME! My mess.My colorful Main Pages 23:36, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh cool, we have something in common, then. God bless, American Eagle (talk) 23:55, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
yep. ✞Static Christian00:06, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

New messages bar

Please change it to at least say something else. It is very confusing to have a new message bar on the top of the page when it is fake. – RyanCross (talk) 00:56, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes please. It was funny at first, but as an inactive member of the project who hasn't got much time to spare, it's quite irritating to find no messages at all! Maybe change the colour or something? Best, PeterSymonds 01:00, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
FYI. – RyanCross (talk) 00:58, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Also, your signature is extremely long. Please shorten it by a lot. – RyanCross (talk) 01:03, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Shapiros10 01:06, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Replies: New messages: there is no reason to, no policy, and the links are to his special pages. I don't see the problem, you don't have to go to his user page. FYI (removal of comments): he removed his own vote, and the only reason the other messages were there was because of his vote. But yes, you shouldn't be removing others comments, just your own. Signature: yes, it is too long. I like it, but it is too long (like 500+ characters, that's too much). God bless, American Eagle (talk) 01:10, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
it puts a strain on the servers, according to PeterSymonds. Shapiros10 01:15, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
That, and also the MediaWiki interface is generally not to be used on userpages except for testing. See the user page guideline on enwiki, and also this discussion. I completely understand that cross-wiki guidelines differ, but there are a number of reasons why simulating MediaWiki is not a good idea. Best, PeterSymonds 01:20, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
I didn't know it was a big problem. ✞Static Christian07:36, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please shorten your signature

I've already said to you above, but you didn't listen, so I'll say it again. Your signature is extremely long. Please shorten it. You should have it as much Special:Preferences allows (maximum), even if you are using a template. Thanks, – RyanCross (talk) 23:57, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

You could use User:StaticChristian/sig2, if you want. God bless, American Eagle (talk) 00:10, 30 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations! You have been given a barnstar!

Congratulations: You have been given a Barnsmiley!..

For making my signature change colour and size all by itself! It was smart of you to do that in what has been called a "write-only" computer language, and it was nice of you to do it for me. Thanks! Coppertwig (talk) 13:21, 31 October 2008 (UTC) Reply

Closed RfA

I closed your RfA as "not promoting". Good luck next time. Coppertwig (talk) 16:30, 1 November 2008 (UTC) Reply

Eh, I think I might do better next time. ✞Static Christian16:30, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Link to RfB

You said this was "not really needed". [1]. Please tell me how I can quickly and easily find the page history of the RfB every time I need to. Thanks. Coppertwig (talk) 16:50, 1 November 2008 (UTC) Reply

I've fixed it so it looks nicer, Coppertwig. Microchip08 16:51, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
He did. ✞Static Christian16:51, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Static, could you sort out your sig? It's massive in the edit window, and makes it harder for me to reread you comments in the EW. Microchip08 16:52, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Will do. Static Christian16:53, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I'm an idiot (don't say it, though!) but all I see is a link from the RfB to the RfB, and a link from a page to itself does nothing (looks black). I still don't see how I'm supposed to easily find the RfB (i.e. page history of RfB etc.) Microchip08, maybe you clicked "change" on the Wikiquote:Requests for adminship page, but some of those "change" buttons change other pages instead. (I don't completely understand how that works.) Coppertwig (talk) 16:58, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

User pages

Please understand that some users want to delete some of your user pages. For now at least, please don't create more pages like that. Maybe we need a discussion first. Usually, pages should be for helping Wikiquote, not just for fun. Coppertwig(talk) 21:32, 1 November 2008 (UTC) Reply

Oh, OK then. Sorry for pushing it onto you. Would you like to rethink the proposal I sent you by email? Microchip08 21:53, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Which one? ✞StaticChristian21:54, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
The reason for having these projects is to write pages like the quote pages on this project, and article pages on Wikipedia. We hope it's fun and makes us feel good to help. But if a whole user page is just for fun, not for helping to make quote pages, it takes time from other users. It takes up space on New changes. People have to look to make sure it isn't vandalism or saying bad things about other users. That takes time. So it takes time away from writing quotes. That's why people don't want pages like that. There are other websites that are just for fun. If you want to just do fun things, you can go to those other websites. If you want to help write quote pages and do things that help (like fixing templates, or telling us what to write in the Mediawiki pages), then it's good to be here. I think that if people are helping the project a lot, then it's OK to have a small number of messages that are just for fun, too. Thanks again for the idea you had and the work you did for my signature. Coppertwig(talk) 21:58, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK. I am trying my best for Simple English Wikiquote! ✞StaticChristian21:59, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well done!

Thanks for translating!!! Well, when I saw this, for a second I thought you were vandalising: "{{simple|At last, a encyclopedia made by idiots!}}" Coppertwig(talk) 22:13, 1 November 2008 (UTC) Reply

That was the best translation I could think of. ✞StaticChristian22:14, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
It's a good translation! It's just that when I saw it, I hadn't read the quote you were translating, so I thought you were just writing that for fun or something. Just for a second I thought that. But then I remembered that you would never do something like that. Coppertwig(talk) 22:19, 1 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
