Requests for administrator attention

I suspect that the following page may be a copyright violation and should therefore be deleted: "Image:Gandhi 1931.jpg" (Or, it may be an open-license picture inappropriately copied here rather than just a link used. I'm not sure which.) --Coppertwig 02:46, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This has been taken care of by Archer7. Thanks. --Coppertwig 17:17, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page: W/index.php was a test by a new user and should be deleted. I've put a very brief welcome message on the user's talk page: --Coppertwig 02:46, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This has also been taken care of by Archer7. Thanks. --Coppertwig 17:17, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This page: %s probably shouldn't redirect to the main page. --65.25.148.59 10:08, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why not? It does on en.wikiquote and on en.wikipedia. On the history of the page at en.wikiquote, there is an explanation that it helps with Firefox keywords or something to that effect. Sounds reasonable to me! --Cromwellt|talk|contribs 23:23, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have no firefox, but I can open the main page. --Uswibèta 06:25, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for administrator attention part 2

Can someone grant me and my bot AWB access? I will be needing it for categorising work. Thanks. Chenzw  Talk  11:31, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know how to grant AWB access? Coppertwig 12:42, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've asked Rodhullandemu here how to do it. Coppertwig 21:04, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Chenzw, Reedy says it's easy: [1]. Have you tried it? Coppertwig 22:27, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Reedy gave you the configuration for AWB itself :P The access page is found at Wikiquote:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage. Take a look at w:Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage for the syntax. Chenzw  Talk  23:49, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I created Wikiquote:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage. Coppertwig 00:08, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is a small mistake; the EN interwiki links to "Wikipedia:" instead of "Wikiquote:". Chenzw  Talk  07:59, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think I fixed that; but it doesn't stop you from using AWB, does it? Coppertwig 02:34, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think that Wikiquote:GNU FDL should be fully-protected or at least semi protected. There is no reason to edit it. Also, it says specifically, Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this license document, but changing it is not allowed. Therefore, some newbie/vandal(not that we get any) might change it, not knowing such. Ilikepie2221 01:47, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Very excellent point, Ilikepie, I have now protected it. Thanks -- American Eagle (talk) 04:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea. Thank you, Ilikepie, and thank you, American Eagle. Coppertwig 23:17, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Option to hide the donations advertisement

Hello, would it be possible to create a gadget to hide the donations notice? They've done this on the English Wikipedia and I think it's a good idea.

Please create MediaWiki:Gadget-HideFundraisingNotice.css and add this text:

.siteNoticeBig, .notice-wrapper {display:none;} .siteNoticeSmall, .notice-wrapper {display:none;}

as written (please get that source by clicking the edit button; it is unreliable to copy/paste while not in edit mode). Then MediaWiki:Gadget-HideFundraisingNotice with this text:

"Hide the donations site notice." - (or a variant in Simple English)

Then add:

  • HideFundraisingNotice|HideFundraisingNotice.css

to MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition (below browsing-gadgets).

That should allow the notice to be hidden. I stress again that it's only for logged-in users, as anonymous users can't access preferences. Best, PeterSymonds 11:24, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done by American Eagle (talk changes). – RyanCross (talk) 08:15, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. By the way, Peter, thank you for bringing it up, and for explaining exactly how to do it. I would never have thought about nor known how it was done. So thank you. -- American Eagle (talk) 08:24, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. :) PeterSymonds 11:00, 16 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry, another irritating request from me. Please update MediaWiki:Common.js with this: {script very ugly and removed; it's now at the above page} Please copy the above in edit mode. :) Directly at the bottom should be fine. It adds the custom buttons to the edit toolbar, such as redirect, image links, etc. Best, PeterSymonds 16:41, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks AE! :D PeterSymonds 20:41, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. And thank you so much for doing this, I tried to do it several times, but couldn't figure it out. Thank you, Peter! -- American Eagle (talk) 20:55, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disney vandal from Wikipedia

The disney vandal is 68.220.165.104, who has started editing here. I want to alert the community this user has been sock-puppeting and vandalizing multiple times at Wikipedia. I think we should keep a close eye on this user. So far, I don't think there are any problems. – RyanCross (talk) 02:13, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nah, no need right now. He won't get very far. Thanks Ryan, PeterSymonds (talk) 10:32, 23 November 2008 (UTC):[reply]
We actually had previous discussion about it at Wikiquote:Simple_talk/Archive_2#Enabling_rollback_permissions. – RyanCross (talk) 17:45, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Popups

The popups tool is broken. It currently shows a transparent box, with all the buttons listed in a line, and can't be disabled (does that happen for anyone else?). It should probably be disabled in the gadgets if it's a sitewide issue. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 20:22, 24 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that! I took popups out again: [2] Coppertwig(talk) 22:51, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not your fault! I'll see if anything can be done to fix it. Thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 22:52, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:Wikiquote logo.jpg

File:Wikiquote logo.jpg has no source information associated with it and is not used on any pages. Unless its source can be determined, it should be deleted. MBisanz talk 22:31, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done, thanks. :) PeterSymonds (talk) 22:33, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
