GT5162 (talk changes) I currently have around 500 edits and would like to go for an RfA within the next month so that I can help by editing MediaWiki pages, especially MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist and MediaWiki:Titleblacklist. I have done a lot of categorizing with Hotcat and I have created several articles and templates recently. I would like to know how I can improve. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. GT5162 (talk) 20:35, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikiquote, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
I would say that I am most pleased with my article categorizing work with HotCat. I also regularly click check "New change" and "Show any page" to search for vandalism and cleanup articles.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I have not been in any conflicts with other users on this wiki. If I am in any conflicts in the future, I would ask an uninvolved administrator for their opinion on the best method to resolve it.

  • Well, your edits are very good. My only issue is your close of this, as I don't think 7-5 is enough consensus for deletion of a userpage. But I will put that behind us, let's move on. :) Otherwise, you're a good editor, helpful to the project, and I have no issues at all at present. Keep up the good work! -- American Eagle (talk) 22:52, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm happy that you're here helping with Simple English Wikiquote. You've made many small changes to quote pages and categories. Those kinds of changes are good and they help build Wikiquote. I looked at some of those changes and didn't see any problems. Also, thank you for closing the difficult AfD discussion. I think that was helpful and I appreciate it. The only thing I'm worried about is this comment. It seems to me to be uncivil to members of the English Wikipedia arbitration committee, and as far as I know you didn't apologize to them when I told you that you could have made your comment more civil. It also seems to show that maybe you aren't as open as you could be to the interpretations of policy by others, especially by people a community has chosen to help interpret such things. The comment also make me think that you might put too much importance on decisions made in off-wiki discussions. You're free to have your own ways of thinking, of course. It just makes me worry that you might have difficulty working together with others if you're in a difficult situation where difficult decisions are needed and where different people have different ideas.(13:36, 13 December 2008 (UTC)) I hope you'll stay and continue contributing here and I look forward to continuing to work with you and getting to know you better. • I think you should stop BITEing other users like you did with now-retired user User:StaticChristian. You drove him away and I think you should stop that or else you should be blocked. 67.189.185.73 21:15, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see no evidence of biting. None at all; Maxim has just been helping. Static, if you've decided not to retire, come back with your username; editing in the third person and attempting to evoke sympathy is not the way to go about this. PeterSymonds (talk) 21:18, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Let's see, he thought Static should be banned, he thought that Static was useless and Static can't get into his account because he forgot the password and removed email. 67.189.185.73 21:28, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Static, you have retired. You are not fooling anyone by trying to edit in the third person. You have retired and locked yourself out of your account, so please leave, and stop disrupting Wikiquote. ס (Samekh) Talk 21:32, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For the future, if you decide to return, Static, it's not "BITEing" to ask to discuss a conflict that's been brewing; to BITE is if I told you to get lost because you're a pain in the ass. See the difference? Plus you're hardly a newbie if you accuse me of BITEing you.--Maxim(talk) 22:12, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, to start off, I want to comment about your Wikipedia actions. You did many things wrong (suicide threat, bad emails, etc.), and came here with a bad reputation, and I even supported your block there. But, I welcomed you here. I wanted you to be able to improve yourself here without the stresses of Wikipedia. And as I thought, you've done excellent! You are being bold and doing good work. I appreciate you changes... keep it up! -- American Eagle (talk) 00:58, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it's possible to change a lot in a few days: that's what I think. Sometimes it happens. Thinking of time, a person is only a few days older, but thinking about what the person is like, sometimes there can be a big change, even in just a few minutes. Not very often maybe, but it happens. At least, that's what I think. People learn in many ways. Sometimes a person suddenly decides to do things a different way, or suddenly thinks a different way about what things are the most important. Coppertwig 01:16, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't usually go for editor reviews. I usually just get on with stuff quitely, but seeing as Static made this I thought I might as well make use of it... I have been here a couple of weeks and and have generally steered clear of talk pages/wikiquote pages etc and instead focused on creating articles, which this wiki really needs. I have made around 8 or 9 quality articles, the two I am most proud of being Gautama Buddha and either John McCain or Joe Biden. I also made a template and a fixed a few categories. So what do you guys think of me here xD? btw I have no wish to be an admin here, there is little or no vandal reverting/deleting to be done and Simple takes up most of my time.
